BARN PHILOSPHY
At Lofty Ambitions Farm, we hope to create a lasting bond between horse and owner/rider. Whether your horse is a valued companion or a showing partner, we believe the same principles of respect and patience apply.
Our main emphasis is on safely enjoying the time you spend with your horse, whether it is riding or taking a walk, etc.
One thing that most people do not know about us is that the majority of horses at the facility are rescues of one sort or another. I have become a dumping grounds of sort for off the track thoroughbreds. It's ok, because I love them all dearly. Several of the boarders have rescued or adopted horses that needed homes as well. Please check out our Horses pages to see their stories.
For lessons and training:
Whether your horse needs breaking, basic training on the flat or over fences, dressage instruction, refresher training, or you simply want to learn how to better communicate with your horse on the ground, we can do it.
My main goal is to create a harmonious and lasting relationship between horse and rider. Riding should not be scary, painful, or anything but a pleasant time, for the horse or rider. Too many people have fallen into bad habits and for many, riding has become a chore, performed only so they don't feel guilty about neglecting their horse.
I don't really subscribe to any particular brand of horsemanship; however I encourage the rider to work with their horse, cherish the horse's talents, respect the horse's limitations, and above all be patient.
Riding is a lifetime experience. Rome wasn't built in a day. You can pack all the gadgets, from flash nosebands, to draw reins, etc. that you want on your horse, but it won't get the job done any quicker and easier than correct training. I actually consider that a horse packed with gadgets just reflects poorly on the rider.
